Always Be Closing does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All processing happens locally in your browser.

What the extension does

Always Be Closing monitors your browser tabs for URLs that match user-configured patterns (e.g., Zoom post-launch pages, OAuth callback pages) and automatically closes those tabs after a short delay.

Data collection

The extension does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data. Specifically:

• No browsing history, URLs, or page content is recorded or transmitted to us or any server we operate.
• No analytics, telemetry, or crash reports are sent.
• No cookies or tracking mechanisms are used.
• The extension does not make any network requests of its own.

Third-party requests

The Watch Queue and popup display thumbnail images for queued YouTube videos. These thumbnails are loaded directly from img.youtube.com by your browser when the queue is open. The video ID is included in the request URL (this is unavoidable for fetching the correct thumbnail). YouTube/Google may log these requests subject to their own privacy policy. No other content is sent.

Local storage

The extension uses Chrome's local storage and session storage APIs to save your rule preferences, your watch queue, your recently-closed history, and short-lived state about pending tab closures. This data never leaves your browser.

Permissions

The extension installs with the following permissions:

• tabs — to read the URL and title of open tabs so they can be matched against your rules and closed.
• alarms — to schedule tab closure after a configurable delay.
• storage — to persist your rule preferences, watch queue, and history locally.
• contextMenus — to add "Queue this tab" and "Always close tabs like this" entries to the page right-click menu.

Optional permissions

Two permissions are not requested at install. They can be granted at runtime from the settings page and removed again at any time. The features they unlock are inactive until granted:

• scripting, limited to youtube.com — lets the extension check the YouTube player's state (video ended / still playing, and whether you've scrolled to the comments) so a tab parked on an end screen can be closed after a grace period. The check runs locally inside the page; nothing is recorded or transmitted.
• scripting on all sites — enables the optional "tab scan" tool (which reads page titles, headings, and visible text into a local report you can copy or download) and og:image thumbnails for queued pages. All processing is local; scan results live in session storage and never leave your browser.
• sessions — lets the "Reopen" button on the history page restore a closed tab with its full back-history and scroll position instead of just its URL. The extension only reads the browser's recently-closed sessions at the moment you click Reopen; nothing is stored or transmitted.

Third parties

This extension has no server-side component and ships no third-party SDKs. The only third-party network activity is the YouTube thumbnail image fetch described above, which only occurs when you open the watch queue or popup.
